FXO Media Gateway
An FXO (Foreign Exchange Office) port connects to an analog line from a service provider. It gets the dial tone and creates a loop closure to make a call. An FXO Media Gateway is a device that changes traditional Analog CO Trunk Line Ports into SIP Trunk Lines.
PRI Media Gateway
A PRI (Primary Rate Interface) line is a digital line that offers multiple channels for voice and data transmission. It uses T1/E1 lines that can carry up to 23 or 30 voice channels respectively, plus one signaling channel. PRI Media Gateway is a device that converts the signals and data between a SIP trunk and a PRI line.
PRI ports can also offer DID (Direct Inward Dialing) service, which means that each voice channel can have a different phone number assigned to it, allowing callers to reach a specific extension directly
So, By using Media Gateways, we can use the latest cost-effective technologies without replacing existing telephone or communication systems.
